Safeguarding

Everone in our school has a right to feel safe. If you are worried about the safety of a child please contact:

Mrs Shields  (Head of School and Designated Safeguarding Lead)

Mrs Barker (Executive Headteacher and Deputy Safeguarding Lead)

Ms Ross (SENDCo and Deputy Safeguarding Lead)

Mr Hallam (Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Safeguarding Lead)

We believe that safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. All children are special, and we work hard to provide an accessible and stimulating environment which cares for the diverse needs of all our children. All staff, governors and volunteers play their full part in keeping our children safe. We are committed to all staff being trained in safeguarding and its wider context. Staff undergo a range of training both online and face to face.

Governors closely oversee safeguarding practices at St Laurence and monitor the S175 audit which all Derbyshire schools must undertake annually.

Our lead governor for safeguarding is Alistair Langton

In cases where the school has reason to be concerned about a child, we may consult with the family or involve other agencies as appropriate. Only in cases where a child’s safety may be further compromised, will the school not first inform parents of concerns.

If you have any worries or concerns about the safety of your child, or you think that it might be helpful to talk to someone in private about any issues, you are always welcome to come and see us for a chat and to share ideas or information.
