Autumn 1 2024-How am I making History?
This term we will be looking at our personal history and creating timelines to show how we have changed throughout the history of our lives so far. We will also be looking at how people celebrated events in the past and comparing them to life now.
Autumn 2 2024-How can I keep my body healthy?
Our focus for this learning challenge will be health and wellbeing. We will focus on recognising our emotions and how we can regulate them. We will also develop relaxation techniques and discuss the importance of these to our mental wellbeing. Finally, we will discuss the people who are in the community who can help keep us healthy.
Spring 1 2025-What is it Like to live in Shanghai?
In our Geography topic this term, we will be naming and locating continents with a particular focus on Europe and Asia. We will then be comparing the UK to China and then will focus on Long Eaton and Shanghai, discussing both the physical and human features of both locations.
Spring 2 2025-How have Explorers Changed the World?
This term we will focus on the explorers Christopher Collumbus, Mathew Henson, Mary Kingsley and Dame Ellen McArthur and research how their achievements have changed the world we live in.
Summer 1 2025-What will you make today?
This question links to our art topic of making sculptures. The children will be exploring how to use paper and card to create their own sculptures using different folding techniques. This will then lead to a collaborative art piece in small groups based on the artist Louise Bourgeois' and her 'Maman' spider sculpture.
Summer 2 2025-How have toys changed?
For our final learning challenge of the year, we will explore our history topic 'How have toys changed?'. This will explore toys from the past and present and children will be making observations and comparing similarities and differences between them.
